Welcome to the Agora

A playground for long-form thought, deep discussion and collective discovery.

Why another social platform?

Most social feeds reward brevity and speed. Ideas are compressed into soundbites, nuance is lost and conversations disappear as quickly as they arrive. The Agora takes an opposite approach: we are long-form first. We give ideas the space – and the structure – they need to grow.

Everything is connected

An idea rarely lives in isolation. On the Agora, every feature is designed to interlink: a quote from a book can inspire a post, that post can feed a debate, the debate can be referenced by a group and bookmarked for future research. Knowledge flows naturally between the different corners of the platform.

Key features

1. Long-form Posts

Publish essays, notes or full-length articles with our rich-text editor. Readers can vote, favourite and start threaded discussions right below your work. The public Blackboard puts your ideas in front of everyone, while My Board is your personal, filtered view of your work and groups you're part of.

2. Shared Library 📚

Browse a growing collection of public-domain works, research papers and community-submitted texts. Highlight any passage and with one click "Quote → Post" to start writing your commentary – the quote is embedded automatically and links back to the original source.

When you're reading a book section you'll see tiny markers in the margin showing where others have highlighted and annotated. Open one to jump straight into an existing discussion or add your own thoughts. Every quote stays bi-directionally linked to its source, so context is never lost.

3. Interactive Mindmaps 🧠

Explore complex ideas through visual thinking. Our library includes interactive mindmaps that break down philosophical works, concepts and systems into their essential components. Navigate through branches of interconnected ideas, zoom in on specific topics, and discover how different concepts relate to each other.

Each mindmap node is clickable and can contain detailed explanations, quotes, or references back to the source material. Mindmaps provide an intuitive way to visualize knowledge and see the bigger picture.

4. Structured Debate

Our debate module (currently in open beta) lets participants build tree-shaped chains of arguments and counter-arguments. Each branch can be voted on, sourced and edited transparently, creating a living map of a conversation rather than an endless comment scroll.

5. Groups & Events

Create or join thematic groups, plan events or reading circles and coordinate meet-ups. Group boards curate the most relevant posts, debates and library references for the community.

6. Real-time Messaging & Notifications

Talk directly with other members through our end-to-end messaging system. Stay in the loop with real-time push notifications (including on iOS) for replies, favourites, mentions and more.

7. Powerful Search

Full-text and fuzzy search lets you instantly surface posts, quotes, debates and books. Never lose a reference again.
